Local swimming stars take to Simon’s Rock

GREAT BARRINGTON – In a tune-up to this weekend’s Western Mass Swim Meets at Springfield College, the Monument Mountain Spartans and the St. Joseph’s Crusaders dominated at the Berkshire Individual swim meet at Simon’s Rock.

The Spartans won a total of 13 events including four team relays. St. Joseph saw both Jessie Tobin (200 and 500 free) and Ellie Field (50 and 100 free) take home two individual wins each. The Lady Crusaders also took the 200 medley relay with Tobin starting, Field anchoring and Elizabeth Bartlett and Theresa Kirsimagi filling the middle.

Pittsfield High earned a few podiums as well, with Liam Mooney grabbing a pair of individual wins in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly. The Lady Generals saw breakout star Szofia Lewis best the field in the 200 IM.
